March 4, 2013 Monday Afternoon

The word for the day is Vertigo.  More on this later.

Friday night we spent the night watching the movies Sinister and Lake Placid The Final Chapter.  Sinister was good.  Lake Placid was just a horror movie and very stupid.  Went to bed around 10 PM for a little lovin and then to sleep.

Saturday I spent the day around the house.  Tony worked a half day and when he got home and showered, we took a long nap Saturday afternoon.  Spent the night watching TV from the DVR.  Went to bed around 10:30 PM to watch SNL.  When I saw the host, not someone I knew, we turned off the TV and did the lovin thing before going to sleep.

Sunday we were up by 7 AM.  Fed the dogs and gave Vito his shot.   Mad eggs and bacon with a bagel for breakfast.  Around noon I took a walk up the street, two blocks, and bought the weekly lottery tickets.  Came home and begged Tony to go for a walk along the river trails.  He did not want to, said it was too cold.  It was only 28 degrees outside but the sun was out.  So I went by myself and took a nice hour walk along the river.  Came home and made BBQ ribs and salads for supper.  Spent the night watching a couple episodes of Body Of Proof and then Amazing Race, The Good Wife and The Mentalist, before doing the loving thing and then going to bed.

This morning I heard Tony yell into the bedroom around 6 AM 'you better get out of bed, something is wrong with Kali'.   Jumped out of bed to find Kali in the kitchen not able to stand.  Tony said she woke up like this.  My first thought was Vertigo, or Vestibular Old Dog Disease.  I dealt with this with Buddy many years ago.  Comes on all at once and the dog can not stand or get itself level in the head.  She is blinking like a type writer and head hanging to the side.  Fed the dogs as Tony held her.  Put her down and held her up as she ate.  Got her outside and held her to pee.  Tony left for work and at 8 AM I called the vet and made an 11 AM appointment.  Tony came home a little before the appointment and drove us there.  $160 dollars later, yes, Vestibular Disease is most likely what she has.  It takes a few days for the dog to get better from this and all you can do is sit with them and make sure they don't try to walk or they will hurt them self.  Spent the afternoon on the couch with the dogs, one hand on Kali.  Will just make a pizza tonight after Tony gets home from work and spend the night with Kali on the couch.   Poor thing can hardly keep her head up without looking drunk.  Have to get back to Kali, but wanted to post.   Will write more tomorrow.  Getting a big snow storm tonight.  Suppose to get up to 8 inches or more of snow tomorrow.  Wish Winter would just end.
